Candidate Information
Our country is founded on the actions of the strong and humble patriots that have stepped up to serve this great country. We are grateful you are taking an interest in serving our community.
Every year, in the first full week of May, the Benton County Auditor’s Office accepts filings for all county-wide and local offices. Online filing opens at 8 a.m. on that Monday and closes at 5 p.m. on Friday. Races with more than two contestants will have a run-off in the August Primary. Those that have 2 or fewer candidates running will proceed to the General Election.
The BCRP endorses and supports candidates who uphold the great conservative values of this country. If you are a candidate looking for endorsement, reach out to the BCRP vetting committee. Endorsed candidates must sign our BCRP Candidate agreement form.
The Washington Secretary of State Elections, the Public Disclosure Commission, and the Benton County Elections websites provide guidance on actions to be taken upon filing. See Important Links.
Benton County provides a Guide to Elections and Candidate Filing pamphlet that shares information on filing and instructions for writing candidate statements for the Voter’s Pamphlet. The Guide also provides information on campaign sign rules, duties of elected officials, and specific information about each office on the ballot.
