DOGE WA Training a Success

Over 50 people gathered in the Kennewick Branch of the Mid-Columbia Library to hear Glen Morgan from WetheGoverned.com to teach us how to take action. He empowered the audience to help make local and state governments more accountable and efficient. Glen outlined a grassroots approach to exposing corruption, emphasizing that the government works for its citizens. And when bureaucrats fail, the people have the power to hold them accountable.

Morgan shared critical steps for success:

  1. Pick a project—Focus on an issue you care about to maintain momentum.
  2. Build a team—Gather a small group (3-12 people) to pool knowledge and resources. Retirees, with more available time, can be invaluable contributors.
  3. Map out connections—Create a research board to track relationships between officials and entities.
  4. Gather and verify records—Use public records and budgets to uncover fraud, always approaching research with an open and unbiased mind.
  5. Stay goal-oriented—Define clear objectives and outcomes.

How to Proceed

Morgan emphasized the importance of following the money—fraud can often be traced through financial records, and the WA State budget provides opportunities to uncover misuse. Learning to navigate public records’ laws and collaborating with a team to request documents is essential.

Another strategy is recruit whistleblowers—government insiders who want to expose misconduct. Protecting their identities is critical for both their safety and credibility.

Once solid evidence is obtained, teams should report fraud and corruption strategically. Public pressure, media exposure, and even federal agencies (like the FBI) can be leveraged when federal funds are involved. Morgan reminded attendees to keep advocacy engaging—avoiding a bitter tone makes activism more effective.

At its core, the movement is about civic responsibility. Morgan warned against waiting for a political “savior”—true government efficiency depends on everyday citizens taking initiative, questioning authority, and actively seeking truth.
